About
Power-a-Village (PAV) is a community-centered initiative dedicated to expanding access to affordable, reliable, and sustainable energy in unelectrified rural communities in Africa. We believe that energy is more than electricity—it is the foundation for education, healthcare, entrepreneurship, food security, and economic opportunities. Through innovative solar energy solutions, local partnerships, and community-driven approaches, we work to empower villages that remain underserved by conventional energy grid infrastructure.
Our work began in Northern Ghana, where many communities continue to face significant energy challenges that limit economic growth and quality of life. Close to 50% of communities in rural northern Ghana do not have access to electricity. By deploying solar-powered systems and supporting productive energy use, Power-a-Village helps households, schools, small businesses, and community institutions gain access to the energy they need to thrive. We combine technology, local ownership, and capacity building to create lasting impact and sustainable development.
Our Vision
To expand access to clean and affordable energy solutions for unelectrified communities by developing locally owned energy systems, empowering women and youth entrepreneurs, and creating opportunities for sustainable rural economic transformation.
